Create Sci-Fi Text in Photoshop
Open up a new canvas size 600×300.
Choose gradient tool
and use these settings.
First, select radial
, now use this colors.

Now with gradient tool create radial background.

Now we’ve got this.

First, download this font.

Select Text tool and use “Orbitron (OT1) font and type in something. Size : 65, style : Black.

Noew we’re going to use a stone texture.
Open up stone texture and place it under text layer and change blending to overlay and opacity 60%.
It should look like this.

Now we will edit text.
Right click on text layer and select “Blending options”

Now open up new texture.
Put texture to the top.
While texture layer is selected Ctrl+click on the thumbnail of the text layer. Now, go to select-inverse-delete.
Put blending to soft light, opacity 20%
Use this texture and repeat previous step

I made this weird texture but it’ll be very useful.Place in under the text layer and change its blending to color dodge, opacity 7%, sharpen it twice and remove with eraser parts you don’t like.

Now, duplicate text layer and place that copy under original text layer.

Now select copy layer and and use “Alt-down-left” arrow to achieve 3D effect.

Merge all “copy” layers, CTRL+E, and go to Blending options.

You can apply mirror effect if you want.
Now, create new layer and apply image.
Apply lighting effect, blur and sharpen, add stroke if you want and you’re done
.

hi… can u tell where to put downloaded font.. thks for great tut……
Once you downloaded the font, paste it in C:/Windows/Fonts
hi, a message is getting displayed saying file is invalid or corrupt when i paste in “C:/Windows/Fonts”.
Great tut, everything explained well. I’m having trouble with this sentence though
“While texture layer is selected Ctrl+click on the thumbnail of the text layer. Now, go to select-inverse-delete.”
Do I select the pixels, inverse the selection, then delete the selection? When I do this, the text changes instead of the background.
Thanks

I do not really understand this line (I am new to Photoshop):
“Now select copy layer and and use “Alt-down-left” arrow to achieve 3D effect.”
How do I do this? If I select the copied layer and press “Alt-down-left” nothing happens. I use Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended if that matters.
That’s 3D effect, Alt+down arrow, then Alt+left arrow, again Alt+down, alt+left, until you’re happy with result
If alt+down does not work try AltGr+down
